The Du Pre recording of the Elgar with Barbirolli conducting. The one with Barenboim conducting isn't as good - I think he just wanted a quiet life or something.
The Eight Legged Groove Machine by Teh Wonderstuff. Yes, the lyrics are a bit 80s now, but the music makes even an old Herring want to get up and dance.
Yo-Yo Ma playing the Bach cello suites. I have recently discovered that Yo-Yo Ma means "Horse on a string".
The Queen is Dead by The Smiths. I remember seeing The Smiths live at the start of the QiD tour. Magic. And it's not miserable, it's funny.
File Under Easy Listening by Sugar. Or maybe Copper Blue instead. I can't decide.
Doolittle. Duh.
OK Computer. Yes it is.
Disintegration by The Cure. Although I really, really like Bloodflowers and Wish.
Psychocandy by teh Jesus and Mary Chain. Fine stuff.
Rain Dogs. Just because.

That's undoubtedly the best album EVAR by The Cure. I used to piss my parents off on a nearly daily basis by blasting that record (yes, I had it on vinyl) right after I got home from football practice. It wasn't "proper" for a nose tackle to listen to fag-music like that, it should have been country bullshit or something like that.

Everyone knows that the Cure stopped being relevant after "Pornography". Stupid major chords ruin everything.

I did also at that time smoke an awful lot of pot, so that may have to do with my assessment of the album.
Honestly, other than on the college radio station in this area, I haven't listened to The Cure for a good 7 years or so.
Note: smoking pot makes it much less painful to take some other 260 pound palooka slamming into you constantly for 120 minutes on a Saturday night.
Makes for a really good case of the munchies after the game, too.

"Lovecats" is probably my favourite song, in good part due to the nice, funky-ish bass-line.

Or respect it, rather. It has a similar energy and physicality to dance music. All about the rush rather than anything cerebral. It's totally lacking in pretension as well.

You clearly don't grasp the rules - perhaps you need to read Q more?

The goal of "Favouritest evar" lists isn't to list your favourite albums, but to list albums you like, while terrified of making your musical taste seem narrow. As such, if your favourite albums are all by New Order, you should list one New Order album, then something new to sound relevant (say Scouting For Girls, they're sufficiently shit), then something old that you never listen to and probably don't even own - Jimmi Hendrix Experience would fit the bill. Bonus points if you describe it as "A classic - an absolute must-have".
