Not in the hole

Been a busy day so far. Got up at 7:30 to take Mrs. H. down to the hospital for her foot op. I really shouldn't have stayed up late drinking beer and IRCing.

After that, went on a shopping trip with Small Boy and purchased fireworks, bacon and rolls. Sensible supplies.

Picked up Mrs. H. at about midday. She seems fine (although she's retired to bed now). They've only given he one crutch (probably NHS cutbacks) but it does mean she can carry a cup of tea. This is important.

Place where they did the op is this little cottage hospital (I don't believe they exclusively treat people injured in toilet-sex accidents). Was clean, nice and the staff were very friendly. When you read about the NHS in the press, it's not supposed to be like that. OK, it wasn't nearly as nice as the private place I had my knee done, but it was plenty adequate.

Of course, now we (OK, me) are going to have to pick up all the jobs which we she normally does and we conveniently forget. Also, I am going to have to do the transporting of the kids. Oh well.

Tomorrow, when Mrs. H. is feeling a bit better, I am going to do fireworks. Probably get smoe soup and crusty bread as well. I don't think I'm kidding anyone about fireworks being "for the kids". Although they do enjoy it.

I have decided that from Monday, I need to detox. I have been drinking far too much an "occaisional" cigarettes have gotten far too frequent. Also beer + limited exercise (due to bad knees) = fat bastard. From Monday it's complete abstinence for at least 2 weeks. If nothing else, since MRs. H. can't drive, should anynoe need driving anywhere at any time, the sobriety is the best option.

Right, the guinea pigs have been cleaned out. Time to tackle the dishwasher...
